The roots of all visual communication lay in traditional art. Early commercial art was in fact created by fine artists who applied the printing techniques of the time to replicate their work, their art.

Their style would dominate the work and the message would be almost a secondary component.The work of Alphonse Mucha and Toulouse Lautrec illustrates this approach perfectly. What they did may not adhere to the “rules” that we think important today, but there is no denying how beautiful it was and that in fact it did work.

With this in mind and our need to illustrate what’s important about what we do, we have produiced a series of posters around the theme of design. Here are the results. Glimmers of Mucha and hints of Lautrec.
